He revealed that he had initially been hesitant to play the character because he was not built like Jaideb. Moreover, he has a romantic hero image which would have ruined the story.
But he decided to give the project a go because he believed in the story and felt that the role of Jaideb was crucial. He added that he was also impressed by the script and how the director has depicted the life of the real-life journalist.
Chatterjee believes that OTT platforms are making Indian content pan-India and is a great platform for telling stories that directors cannot do justice to in the theatre. The actor further adds that the digital space is moving on from its’sex and violence’ phase and is now embracing wholesome stories.
The actor has a lot more to offer with his versatile acting abilities and believes that he can be a strong contender in the burgeoning Indian film industry. Having acted in both Hindi and Bengali films, Prosenjit is currently working on two projects—a biopic on the legendary writer Balmiki Sengupta and Kaushik Ganguly’s Shesh Pata.
Prosenjit is a true performer who gets into the skin of his characters and has a flair for dialogue delivery. He brings the dichotomy of Balmiki Sengupta to life with his performance. His chemistry with Aditi Rao Hydari is electric and it’s hard not to notice their charm in the sepia-toned frames. The series is all set to launch on Amazon Prime Video on April 7. The other cast includes Aparshakti Khurana, Sidhant Gupta, Ram Kapoor, Wamiqa Gabbi and Nandish Sandhu. The 10-episode series has been co-created by Soumik Sen and directed by Vikramaditya Motwane.
